Plumbing History

Plumbing is a complex system of drains, pipes, valves, fittings, and fixtures. Plumbing is used for the distribution of potable water for heating, drinking, washing, and waterborne waste removal. However, plumbing also involves a tradesman who has a specific skill that deals with the maintenance and installation of the above. Plumbers will usually go to a trade school to learn his skill and profession. Many Austin plumbers apprentice for years with a qualified plumber before been certified.

The plumbing industry is a large part of every economy in the world. It is interesting to note that the word plumbing comes from a Latin word, plumbum, meaning lead. It is also interesting to note that plumbing originated long ago in various civilizations such as the Roman, Greek, Persian, Chinese, and Indian cultures. As populations grew people needed to provide potable water for public baths as well as establish a waste water removal system.

Therefore, as we can see that this industry has a rich and colorful history. Today, a plumber can provide a home with a variety of services and there are many companies that employ hundreds of plumbers. The plumbing profession is an honorable trade and if you want to get involved in an industry that is stable and pays well then the plumbing industry may be just the right choice for you.
